What’s been happening? Good news On Saturday after efforts made by multiple teams, the team finally brought in a male who was wanted for a serious assault on his ex-partner. He had punched her and held a pillow over the face so that she couldn’t breathe. We are glad he is finally in and we can protect the victim from such abuse.
Sunday morning the team put a door through to execute a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant in Smiths Wood. They found several cannabis plants and an investigation has been launched into the production.
Sunday afternoon the team along with the Chelmsley Wood Neighbourhood Team and Traffic in an off-road bike operation. We encountered two males who we suspected had drugs on them. Both were detained and one had drugs found on him. The other had nothing but decided to assault one of the officers and tried to escape. He was arrested for assaulting the officer and obstruct police. He was then brought to Stechford Custody where he was interviewed later that day. The off road operation resulted in 3 arrests, 2 out of court outcomes, 2 knifes seized, several bags of cannabis seized, 3 bikes seized and a Stolen Bike Recovered.
Monday morning, we arrested a male for theft from a shop. By entering the store in Castle Bromwich, he was in breach of a Community Protection Notice (CPN). He has been charged for both the theft and breach of CPN. He will be appearing in court next month.
The PCSO’s carried out school parking patrols Monday morning at Kinghurst Primary School. PCSO’s Took & Brady were at St Clements Church café at 10am engaging with residents and listening to people's concerns. Whilst PCSO Collins and Khan assisted a vulnerable person in Smiths Wood whose back gate was vandalised during the night. They liaised with Solihull Community Housing and got the gate replaced as this left her vulnerable as she backed on to an alleyway. PCSO Took & Brady also assisted a lady who was stranded at Morrison’s carpark due to problems with her keyless car. After a bit of research from good old YouTube and the help of the lovely man at Timpson’s (Morrison’s carpark) we were able to get her back on the road. In the afternoon they were on foot patrol around Park Hall School when all the kids were leaving, engaging with the kids.
On our late shift on Tuesday the team delivered a County Lines input to local youths at Urban Heard in Smiths Wood. Great interactive session, raising awareness and ensuring that youths felt empowered to report any suspicious behaviour to the relevant authorities.
PCSO Took & Collins assisted Chelmsley Wood Neighbourhood team carrying out foot patrols in and around Chelmsley Wood Town Centre and KFC, McDonalds to provide hi-visibility and to prevent any anti-social behaviour. Then they were back on our patch carrying out foot and mobile patrol in Castle Bromwich, Kinghurst and Smiths Wood.
On Wednesday PCSO Took & Collins along with our Sgt visited Seeds of Hope in Kinghurst to look at the next stage of the redevelopment in Kinghurst. Looks like it is going to be a great and much needed addition to the area.
We also attended the Castle Bromwich Parish Assembly held in the newly refurbished Pavillon Hall at Arden Hall. Was lovely to hear from all the groups and charities that are supported by the Parish Council and Arden Hall and all the great work they do for the community.
Some of the team assisted The Police Cadets who are based at Chelmsley Wood Police Station. They carried out role play scenarios with them around various topics.
This is on top of our daily patrolling and visiting any victims of crime and intelligence gathering.
